🌍 Sára’s Adventures in Budapest – An ESC Volunteer Experience 💚
New experiences, unforgettable memories, personal growth, and lots of love! 🥰
Today, we’d like to share Sára’s story with you! Between May 14 and July 9, she spent almost two months volunteering in Budapest through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) at the Foundation for Children with Limb Differences (VĂ©gtaghiányos GyermekekĂ©rt AlapĂtvány), coordinated by Youth Bridges Budapest.
But what is it like to volunteer for the first time, live independently in a big city, meet new people, and step outside your comfort zone?
Let’s hear it from Sára herself! 💚👇
đź’¬ Sára’s Volunteering Experience
Between May 14 and July 9, I took part in my first ESC volunteering project in Budapest, at the Foundation for Children with Limb Differences (VĂ©gtaghiányos GyermekekĂ©rt AlapĂtvány).
This period gave me so many new experiences and opportunities to learn. I had the chance to experience what it is like to live independently in a big city, and I made many beautiful memories, especially during the foundation’s camps. I look back with love on the participants and organizers, who gave me so much kindness, trust, laughter, and affection.
Of course, it wasn’t always easy, but I feel that I grew a lot, both as a person and in terms of independence.
Although the project ended more than three months ago, the experiences and memories I gained there are still with me today.
The beauty and history of Budapest strengthened my love for culture even more, which is why I am currently studying Cultural Tourism at Babeș–Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. However, my passion for special education remains an important part of my life.
I am grateful for this experience, which not only gave me beautiful memories but also contributed to my personal growth and future plans.
Special thanks to the Youth Association from Transylvania (Erdélyi Ifjúsági Egyesület), my sending organization, and Youth Bridges Budapest, the coordinating organization, for supporting me throughout this adventure and making it possible for me to be part of this experience.

The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) offers young people the opportunity to volunteer abroad, discover new cultures, make new friends, and learn more about themselves along the way.
