Building a better relationship between young people and nature

In today’s world, where technology dominates our lives, the importance of nature is often overlooked. It’s easy for people to get lost in their screens and forget about the beauty and wonders that surround them. The idea behind this “green project” is to change that, even if just a little bit and to put the focus back on the relationship that young people have with nature.

The project so far involved giving workshops in local primary schools in the rural areas of Transylvania. These workshops focused on the impact of human activity on the environment and how to avoid it, through recycling, sustainable living and in general how to take care of our surroundings. The workshops are interactive and engaging with activities like games and quizzes to make learning about the environment enjoyable. The workshops have had success so far. The children have responded positively, showing enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. They have also become more aware of the environment and the impact of their actions on it.

The project will not just consist of workshops but in the upcoming months more outside activities will take place, for example we will clean the surrounding areas around Székelykeresztúr from the trash that piled up during the winter months. Outside activities will help the kids to get to know the plants and animals better, that live all around them and help them to appreciate the beauty of nature.

Hopefully the project will not only help to build a better relationship between young people and nature but will also inspire them to take care of the environment. In the long run it will help to create a generation of young people who are passionate about nature and committed to protecting it. They will care their love for nature into their adulthood and pass it to the future generations.
