Our Emotional Management Project Hosts the Job Shadowing in Romania

Between 6 and 13 of November, we and Liceul Teoretic “Órban Balàzs”, hosted the job-shadowing that took place in Cristuru Secuiesc, Romania as part of the project called “Emotional Management: Tool to Fight Social Media Dependency”, which is a strategic partnership funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Commission. Teachers and youth workers from Portugal and Spain participated in the job-shadowing.

This project involves several professionals from schools, town halls and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from three countries (Spain, Portugal and Romania) and aims to improve the ability of all participants to identify feelings and emotions, as well as deal with them, and know how to help others when working with students and youth groups, contributing to a lower dependence on social networks.

The teachers were involved in different activities at the Liceul Teoretic “Órban Balàzs”, secondary school in Cristuru Secuiesc, in which collaborative work was carried out in the observation and sharing of educational practices with Portuguese and Spanish teachers. In addition to the direct observation of several classes, in the most varied disciplines (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, German, etc.), teachers also had the opportunity to teach content related to emotional management in some classes of the 11th year, as well as to participate in some extracurricular activities.

On the cultural level, some visits were made to places such as Viscri, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and where Prince Charles of Wales has a holiday home; visit to the homeland of the famous Vlad Dracul (Dracula), the mythical city of Sighisoara. The visit that most marked this experience was the salt mines of Praid, whose fantastic galleries were an unprecedented experience for all participants.

As one of the final activities of this job shadowing, the host school held a cultural soiree where teachers had the opportunity to know some of the customs and traditions of that locality.

Finally, all guests and hosts were gathered at our offices a retrospective of the entire project was made, since the beginning in 2019, being carried out a balance of the activities of job shadowing and the timing of future activities.

It was eight days of sharing and intensive work, during which the participating teachers got rich at a personal and professional level, having established links with all stakeholders and developed language skills, including in English.
