Course for adult mentors on active citizenship and land use planning (Training activity)

It was amazing to organize such a training course, what we had in the last week of July in 2021. Why is that? Well, everyone knows our amazing project RESCUE, where we are about to reheel places, which are not used anymore.


These 10 days training course was in favor of 20 educators for adults and/ or territorial agents ready to engage as mentors for the development of abandoned public places. It was aiming that participant acquire technical and pedagogical skills to be able mobilize, support and accompany a group of citizens to develop certain abandoned spaces in their community. The results of this training were used to further develop the tool guide. The participants were guided by the project coordinator and two trainers from Greece and Romania.



Learners were consolidated their skills to support the implementation of initiatives favorable to the local development, thought (E)-mentoring for adult beneficiaries. They were also be trained in the use of technical and educational tools useful for carrying out this task.

The contents were the followings

– A focus on the role, principles and responsibilities of the mentor.

– Key definitions: learning in a context of non-formal education, active citizenship, planning of

abandoned public spaces, social entrepreneurship, etc.

– Presentation and exchange of good practices.

– Analysis and brainstorming according to the results of the survey.

– Presentation and reflection on the intellectual productions that will be produced (e-tutorial videos,

technical and educational guide, online training, map GIS and book resource of initiatives).

– Trades and opportunities for creating social enterprises for local development.

– The profile and roles of adult tutors for the territorial development.



At the end of the training, participants were able to provide appropriate support for the

implementation of local initiatives to develop and operate abandoned public spaces. They were

able to prepare an action plan with the adults they will support until the experimental phase

(establishment of entrepreneurial initiatives), which guarantee viability and quality.
