The Intellectual Outputs of Emotional Management

The Strategic Partnership “Emotional Management tools to fight social media dependency”, funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program, ended with the launch of two outputs, in document format, which aim to help high-school teachers, educational professionals, youth workers and anyone working with youth and teens better understand the false images that teenagers have due to internet and social media dependency and their destructive nature.

This project started in October 2019 and, although it was originally expected to last 24 months, due to COVID-19, lasted 35 months. Emotional Management was created through local and international cooperation of secondary schools, NGOs and local governments in Spain, Portugal and Romania in order to train teachers and parents in emotional management, in order to support school-age young people who face the media and the Internet as a cause of dependency and other negative effects.

Coordinated by us, the Youth Association from Transylvania, in partnership with the “Orbán Balázs” High School and Orasul Cristuru Secuiesc, from Romania, with Permacultura Cantabria, IES Lope De Vega and Ayuntamiento de Santa Maria de Cayon, Spain, and with Aventura Marão Clube, Escola Secundária de Amarante and Município de Amarante, Portugal, this partnership focused on emotional management in schools, as well as at home. We believe this may be the key to the success of reducing digital bullying, false need to belong, peer pressure, lack of confidence and depression.

Therefore, two final results have been created, created and tested by the various partners involved, which we now share with you.

The first one, “International Research on Youngsters’ Social Media Dependency and Possible Solutions” is as the name suggests is a research to try and understand the challenges and threats youth face. It included national survey in Portugal, Romania and Spain, more than 1000 questionnaires to students, teachers and parents, focus groups and class observations and the findings can be received in the book, here.

The second is called “Emotional Management Tools to Fight Social Media Dependency” and is a toolkit that firstly presents the theory of Emotional Management thought to teachers and parents in the project and then goes on to share more than 80 tried and tested games, events and activities for high-school teachers, educational professionals, youth workers and parents to freely use. It can be read here.

We are curious on your feedback and experiences using the books, so, feel free to contact us about them at our mail, office.ata@gmail.com.
