Developing fine motor skills in early childhood is very essential as it provides a good base for their future handwriting. These skills include the ability to hold, grasp, grip and pinch and are very important to improve on because they have an impact on everyday life. By acquiring these, kids will be able to button up their shirts, hold their pencils and pick up their food. Evidence even suggests that there’s a link between fine motor skills development and language, literacy and brain development.

Easter holidays started the seventh of April for all the volunteers so to take advantage of the free time we had, we decided to go on a trip through the southwest of Romania.
Our trip began in Sibiu, we took a walk around the old center of the city visiting the different churches and enjoying the main square. One of the best sensations was to be back in a big city, it may sound weird but when you expend too much time in a small area with the same people reaching a place that’s full of stores, restaurants, malls, people from different places with different styles, it is a really refreshing feeling specially for young people like us, some of us even took the opportunity to watch a film in English in one of the cinemas.

The Argentinian, El Salvadorian, Colombian, Hungarian and Spanish partners, together with us ATA, were all motivated to finally meet face to face in Argentina and discuss all parts of the VET Pact project which is financed by Erasmus+. So far, ATA has only met the Hungarian and Argentinian partners through other projects, so it was very necessary and useful to meet everyone.

The goals of the meeting were to get to know the partners face to face, to discuss all important aspects of the project, to clarify unclear aspects, and to get to know the Argentinian partner and city.

10 people participated in the meeting. Originally, there should have been 12 of us, 1 project coordinator and a financier from each country, but the El Salvadorian and Spanish partners were represented by only 1 person each, the project coordinators, because the financiers could not travel for objective reasons.

The Youth Association from Transylvania is already working hard on their brand-new large-scale Erasmus+ project. The VET PACT – Enhancing VET Practices and Capacities through Transformative Learning is a two-year project that started on 01 January 2023, and will end on 31 December 2024. It brings together six countries and aims to promote transformative learning, enhance the quality of VET education, and strengthen the employability of VET school graduates.

The project has partners from Latin America, to be more specific: Argentina, Columbia, and El Salvador, and from Europe: Hungary, Romania, and Spain. The project involves six NGOs as full partners and four VET schools as affiliate partners, 1800 students, and 180 teachers. This diverse group of partners and participants will allow for a variety of perspectives and experiences to be shared throughout the project.

The VET PACT project provides a unique opportunity for partners from Latin America and Europe to come together and work towards a common goal. The primary goal of the project is to promote transformative learning. By using this approach in the VET context, the project aims to enhance the quality of VET education and increase the relevance of VET programs to the needs of the labor market. The project also aims to strengthen the employability of VET school graduates. Through the development of innovative teaching methods, the project hopes to improve the skills and competencies of VET students, making them more attractive to potential employers.

The VET PACT project will kick off face to face very soon through a meeting in Argentina. This initial meeting will provide an opportunity for all partners to come together and establish a common understanding of the project’s goals and objectives, clear up any remaining questions anybody might have, sign contracts, etc. The project is currently in its research phase, and there are ongoing desk research, interviews, and data collection. Naturally, this will also be discussed in Argentina. The research phase focuses on the current situation of VET education in the six partner countries and will provide essential ground information for the future steps of the project. If you are interested in the project and its development, stay tuned. We will be sharing more and more information and results regarding it as time passes.

Living with international roommates

Living with people from other countries can be a unique and enriching experience. It offers
the opportunity to learn about and appreciate different cultures, lifestyles and perspectives.
However, it also requires effort, patience and communication to navigate cultural differences and ensure a harmonious living environment.

One of the most valuable aspects of living with people from other countries is cultural
exchange. From sharing meals and learning about each other’s traditions to discussing
different perspectives on current events, you will have the opportunity to broaden your
horizons and gain a deeper understanding of the world. This is also a chance to improve your English and discover a new language, in our case Hungarian.

Coming from different backgrounds, each of us has our own habits, for example we all eat or sleep at different times. As we are not native English speakers, communication is not always easy, but we always find a way to understand each other.

Living with people from other countries can lead to lasting relationships and memories. It is
an opportunity to form strong bonds with people from all over the world and to create a
diverse and supportive community within your own home.

In conclusion, living with people from other countries can be a truly enriching and rewarding
experience. It requires effort, patience and communication, but the benefits are many.
Whether it is learning about new cultures, building lasting relationships or broadening your
horizons, living with people from other countries has the potential to enrich your life.

When we hear the word ‘debate culture’, we often don’t know where to put it, which is telling, as it is not a fundamental part of our current educational repertoire. It is this fundamental gap that our next youth exchange programme, named as CITIZENSHIP AND YOUTH, seeks to address with the help of two associations: APPC (Agissons ensemble) from France and Fortschritt Vision Diskurs from Germany.
